Sreshtu techenieto

2008 · Documentary
A „music” ship sails along the Danube. She starts at the mouth of the river on Bulgarian and Romanian territory and is headed towards Europe. The ship’s travel up stream is a symbol of the East European and Balkan countries’ joining the European family. This unusual ship becomes a meeting point for cultures and musical traditions from East and West. For ten days she becomes the home and stage for virtuoso musicians from the countries along the Danube. All of them are unique artists of various paths of life. Some are renowned „stars”, others are emigrants who have established themselves abroad but still feel the necessity to return to their roots; yet others are unknown bearers of original traditions. The most interesting performers: Ivo Papazov – Ibryama, Theodosiy Spassov, the Thracian Virtuosi (Matyu Dobrev, Vasko Denev, Mladen Malakov, Alexander Kassiyanov), Serbian accordion player and composer of strange fortune, Ivitsa Vutsela, Hungarian violin player Lantos Zoltan, Austrian accordion player Otto Lechner, Eastern legend in guitar playing Enver Izmailov, the Romanian band Yagalo – such a number of virtuoso musicians gathered together at one and the same place is hugely provocative and stimulates creativity
