Rumqna Petkova was born on October 18, 1948 in Elhovo, Bulgaria. She graduated film direction at VGIK (Cinema Institute), Moscow (1973). She teaches film direction at SWU "Neofit Rilski" at Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, since 1993.
