Prokuroryt

This black and white drama is based on a classic work of Bulgarian theater by Georgi Ojagarov which has become a standard part of the repertory of theater companies throughout Europe. The story concerns a prosecutor who has somehow survived the persecutions and show trials of the early Stalinist period with his integrity intact. Now he has been given a warrant to sign, binding his best friend over for arrest. This friend has also survived the difficult times, and the prosecutor is reluctant to have him arrested. Instead, he carries out his own very personal, extremely discreet investigation. Based on his findings, he feels he must bring his old friend to trial.
