Voenen korespondent

1917. Europe gone crazy is burning in the flames of the World War. A Bulgarian officer, the correspondent of the War News newspaper, is travelling to the Dobrudja front. His name is Yordan Yovkov. He has an unusual task to accomplish – to take an engagement ring to his best friend who has got married to a girl somewhere beyond the front line. Along his way he will meet almost blind General Kolev and the imam who makes crosses for the Bulgarian soldiers dying of cholera, he will close his dying friend’s eyes and will stay the night at the home of his fiancée. Together with the notepad he writes his experiences in, Yovkov will also carry the painful memories of whatever has happened.

„In this film, we wanted to project the emotions and excitement of Yovkov’s characters onto his personality. We tried to guess what Yovkov was like in his everyday life based on the literary work he has created. This is a film about good and evil, human relationships, friendship, word of honour, ideals and to what extent they come true. These are small pieces of melodramatic stories and the experience of rapture or shock with war that Yordan Yovkov did indeed witness on the front lines in the beginning of the XX century. Yovkov walked in the trenches of the war and came across suffering at every step. He, however, preferred to create a parallel world inhabited by good and spiritually rich people.”
