Elin Pelin
Biography
Elin Pelin was born on July 18, 1878 in Bailovo, Bulgaria. He studied to become a teacher at a local school in 1895. His first short story, published in 1901, drew the attention of literary circles in Sofia and he went to the capital to work as a librarian. This occupation gave him a lot of time to write and travel. During the First World War, he worked as a war correspondent. Elin Pelin published novellas, short stories, children's stories and was co-founder of the literary periodical Razvigor.
