Georgi Slavov Karaslavov was born on January 12th, 1904 in the village of Debyr, county Parvi Mai (old Borisovgrad). He died on January 26th, 1980 in Sofia.
He has been a teacher in his native village. Later he studied agriculture in the SOFIA State University and began writing poems, feuilletons. His first work was the volume of short stories "Ulichnitsi" (Rascals). He was expelled from Sofia University because of his Communist activities and continued his studies in Prague. After returning to Bulgaria, he continued his literary work parallel to his Communist activities. His best works, "Tatul" (Thorn Apple) and "Snaha" (Daughter-in-Law), appeared before September 1944.
