Petyr Borisov Vasilev-Milevin was born on June 26th, 1918 in the village of Kriva Bara, near Lom. He studied law in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He graduated with a degree in directing from the Russian State Film School (VGIK) in Moscow in 1954.
