Rumen Petkov

Rumen Petkov was born on January 26th, 1948 in Sofia. His influence triggered the new generation of young Bulgarian comic artists as Vladimir Nedialkov, Koko Sarkisian, Ivan Kirjakov and others. He was one of the main designers of the comics magazine DUGA (Rainbow), which is the most popular comics for several generations of Bulgarian children. His most popular cartoon is "The Adventures of Stork Choko and Froggy Boko" which was popular in Bulgaria during 70's. Other famous movies are "Friends of Gosho the Elephant", "Treasure Island" and etc. He has won the Grand Prize at the Ottawa Animation Festival and the Palm D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Recently Rumen Petkov has been participated as scenarist, storyboard artist and director on some series of Tom and Jerry, Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, Cow and Chicken, Woody the Woodpecker and others. He is currently working on The Mummy TV series. He says about animations: "Animation will never die because it's like music, because it's like running with the wind, because it's funny."
