Georgi Stoqnov was born on July 27th, 1936 in Moscow, Russia. He studied in MEI- Moscow's Energetic Institute from 1953 to 1958. He studied in IDHEC-l'Institut des Hautes etudes Cinematographiques in Paris- (Film directing, Producing & Editing) from 1961 to 1963. He worked as a Film director & Scriptwriter at the DOCUMENTARY FILM STUDIO-Sofia (1963-1965); Film director & Scriptwriter of feature films at BOYANA FILM STUDIO-Sofia (1965-1991). He was a First Chairman of the Cabinet of Young Bulgarian Filmmakers (1969-1972) and an Artistic Manager of the 3rd Creative Filmunity-Boyana, Sofia (1973-1982). He was a Hon.Lecturer in Film directing Academy for Theatre and Film-Sofia in 1982; a chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers (1983-1991). He was a member of the Bulgarian Parliament from 1986 to 1989. He became a Deputy Chairman of the Bulg. National TV in 1990. From 1995 to 1996 Georgi Stoqnov was a Deputy Minister of Culture and from 1996 to 1997 a Counselor of Culture with the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Washington-USA. He was a President of the Foundation "DARBA"(Talent) in 1997-1999 and a President of Saint George Studio AV Ltd in 1998. He was a Hon. Lecturer in Film directing and Film Editing for Audiovisual College(1999-2001).
